Engagement is a factor of the deliverability filtering algorithms of Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Investing time and effort in your engagement strategy pays dividends in both the short- and long-term. Once someone hands over their email address they’re expecting to receive entertaining and/or value-packed emails. Be sure to give careful thought to what goes into emails beyond enticing content and design. Here are some easy-to-implement tips we recommend:
- Utilize responsive email design.
- Include images with clickable links.
- Avoid long load times on mobile devices – use compressed images.

- Place at least one clickable element in the top of the body.

- Allow subscribers to reply to your email (don’t use a ‘no-reply’ email address).
- Ask subscribers to whitelist you and add you as a safe sender in their address book.
- Stagger sends by engagement.
